Buying your first home is an exciting experience—and a dream that came true for many Americans this year. First-time homebuyers Bailey and Zach soon learned that new construction makes more sense. The Plano, TX, natives and newlyweds were among the homebuyers who made this leap in 2020 and Trophy Signature Homes was honored to be part of this memorable transition to homeownership!
“I was passionate about new construction.”
“We have been married a year and decided it was time to purchase our first home,” says Bailey, who met Zach when they were in 8th grade. At 26, they have known each other for half their lives.
They decided that new construction was the right solution for them. “I was very passionate about new construction to ensure things were updated and brand new. All the houses we were looking at needed completely redone, and we figured a new construction would be the easiest route.”
“Everything looked beautiful from the second we pulled in.”
She and Zach had already decided that Frisco was where they wanted to live. The next step was finding a location that would be convenient to the Star and the Shops At Legacy. Zach works for a company located near the airport and needed to live close to the Tollway. Bailey, who had been a buyer for Sephora Corporate in San Francisco, now coordinates Sephora’s online rewards bazaar. After browsing the area, she discovered Edgestone at Legacy, a community we had just launched in Frisco.
“Everything looked beautiful from the second we pulled into the neighborhood. It felt safe and homey and we loved being right off Legacy,” Bailey comments, adding that her brother lives a few streets away.
When the couple saw a Greenbrier II floor plan that was under construction, the design immediately sold them. Bailey says this home, part of Trophy Signature Homes’ Hotel Series of floor plans, “checked all of our boxes. The architecture was exactly what we were looking for—wide-open spaces, high ceilings, white kitchen, wooden beams.”
“No question was a dumb question!”
No matter what home you’re purchasing, there are a lot of details to cover. As a newcomer to the process, Bailey and Zach knew they had a lot to learn.
“As first-time homebuyers, we had no idea what we were doing,” she explains. “Our Community Sales Manager and Project Superintendent walked us through everything step by step. No question was a dumb question and I appreciated that! They took their time with us and were very patient, everything went so smoothly.”
They signed the contract in May, with expectations for a mid-September closing. Bailey was worried that the pandemic’s restrictions would delay the construction of their new home. With careful planning and adhering to health and safety guidelines, everything stayed on schedule, a pleasant surprise for the first-time homebuyers!
“The home checked all our boxes.”
The Greenbrier II home they chose offers 2 stories, 4 bedrooms, and 4 baths—plenty of room for the young couple to grow their family, which currently includes their Golden Retriever. Living across from the park makes it easy to walk the dog and, eventually, give their children a place to play.
“We have met quite a few families. We seem to be the only people without a child, so we hope to meet more people once we have a little kiddo running around!”
Since moving in just two months ago, the couple has been enjoying entertaining family and friends. As Bailey gets ready for their first holiday in the new home, she’s appreciating the kitchen features, like the dual wall ovens with a built-in microwave above them.
“We also love the fireplace and ceiling height. I think the wooden beams make the house so dreamy. We are obsessed with them!”
Another feature that impresses her is the “huge” doorless walk-in shower in the primary suite’s bathroom. And she’s not the only one who loves it. Bailey has often woken up in the middle of the night to find their dog sleeping in the shower.
“I do not have enough good things to say about them!”
“I truly thought this would be a painful process and no one would help us since this was our first time and we are young,” says Bailey, 26. “I was fully relying on Lynlee and Phillip to get us through everything. I emailed them so often and they always answered so quickly and were so helpful. I do not have enough good things to say about them! I know it is probably annoying repeating the same things over and over to every homebuyer, but I appreciated the extra step they took to make us feel comfortable.”
Their project superintendent managed the construction of their home. Bailey said he paid close attention to detail. “He was so big on doing the right thing and I appreciate how much he cared about our home.”
“It is nice knowing we are the first people to live here.”
Bailey recommends the choice of a new home over a resale. Her advice to homebuyers is “100% do it! It is nice knowing we are the first people to live here. I love having a home that is up to date and has so many new cool features.”
