LED Lights—Do You Need Them?

At Trophy Signature Homes, energy efficiency is one of our top priorities. Our high-efficiency smart homes are built with the highest quality features in the entire industry, with conscious practices and progressive materials implemented to not only save homeowners money on energy costs—but also minimize a home's impact on the environment and give our owners peace of mind. We carefully select each detail in our sleek, elegant homes—including our high-efficiency LED lights. Here’s why LED lights are an essential part of our homes and how they benefit you - our homeowners.

Why are LED lights important?

An LED stands for light-emitting diode, which is a semiconductor that produces light when an electric current passes through it—using less heat, producing more light and saving people more money. According to the Department of Energy, LEDs are today's most energy-efficient and rapidly-developing lighting technology. LED light bulbs last longer, are more durable, and offer comparable or better light quality than other types of lighting. Trophy Signature Homes includes LED lighting throughout all of our homes—using up to 75 percent less energy than incandescent lighting and lasting up to 25 times longer. Although there’s a common misconception that making the switch to LED lighting may seem unnecessary or ineffective, the impact it can have on the home and the homeowner is incredibly significant.

What are the benefits of utilizing LED lights in your home?

When you switch to energy-efficient LED lighting, you can light up your home using the same amount of light for less money. Lighting accounts for around 15% of an average home's electricity use, and the average household saves about $225 in energy costs per year by using LED lighting. In addition, LEDs use dramatically fewer watts than traditional bulbs to produce bright light, which means they also last much longer. Most LEDs last around 50,000 hours—meaning your bulb could last up to 10 years before needing to be replaced, saving you a significant amount of money in the long run.

Among the benefits of LED lighting is the fact that they radiate very little heat, particularly compared to incandescent lights. Incandescent bulbs release about 90% of their energy as heat, while LEDs release between 20-50%—making LED lights less hazardous, especially in terms of fire safety in your home. Furthermore, LEDs do not contain mercury unlike most other lighting types, and their energy savings and basic construction allow for them to take the win for the most environmentally-friendly form of lighting to exist.

At Trophy Signature Homes, our recessed LED lighting is strategically placed throughout each room, enhancing the eye-catching look of our modern homes even more. With a simplistic glow and a reliable performance—you can count on LED lights to take your home-owning experience to the next level. From the non-toxic elements and low heat to the extensive lifespan and money and energy savings, LED lights are one of the best additions you can bring into your home—and we’re proud to include such an amazing feature in every single one of our homes at Trophy.
