The high schools in Allen TX have well-earned reputations for excellence in education and athletics. Most students in Allen attend Allen High School in the Allen Independent School District for grades 10 through 12. Ninth graders attend Lowery Freshman Center. Allen ISD serves over 20,000 students in Allen TX, located 23 miles north of Dallas. Enrollment has more than doubled in 30 years. The district has handled its growth well, though, staying committed to maintaining its student-to-staff ratios and class sizes.

In athletics, Allen High School has won multiple state championships in football. Its girls’ golf team has also won state titles. In wrestling, Allen’s team won eight consecutive state titles from 2009 to 2016.
Home to nearly 2,000 ninth and tenth graders, Lowery Freshman Center is known for its academics. Its students perform above average on state tests. The school has also shown promising year-over-year improvements in student test scores. Nearly a quarter of students at Lowery take one or more AP courses.
Although smaller in size, Lovejoy High School competes with the big dogs in terms of academics and is ranked in the top 1% in the nation. It has consistently achieved “Exemplary” status, the highest possible rating, from the Texas Education Agency.
The school’s academic programs use a Pre-AP/AP baseline curriculum with the option of dual-enrollment courses. This establishes a high standard for success and allows highly motivated students to pursue more advanced coursework.
Lovejoy High School also encourages extracurricular activity participation. It won the Texas University Interscholastic League Lone Star Cup in 2010 and 2011. This award recognizes performance in sports, as well as the marching band. The school has also won state titles for boys and girls cross country and volleyball.
